INTRODUCTION AND STORY LINE:
As the
largest theatre of war in history, the
notoriously fierce and destructive
battles that raged on the Eastern Front
of World War II bore the bulk of the
Holocaust and seated nearly all the
extermination camps, death marches,
pogroms and ghettos. More people
fought and died on the Eastern Front
than all other theatres combined.
As the
German forces occupying the Soviet Union
were forced out, they left in their wake
a path of brutality and suffering.
The scorched earth tactics employed by
German forces accounted for over 20
million civilians killed.
The
Russian city of Kursk was the first
target. The setting was the Winter
of 1942.
